Points of Interest

  1. Departure from Porto San Paolo
    Boarding and initial briefing.
  2. Scenic navigation
Gentle navigation passing by Costa Corallina and Porto Istana. In a few minutes we reach the southern coast of Capo Ceraso, home to Spiaggia del Dottore, Porto Legnaiolo and other small coves.
  3. Spiaggia del Dottore / Porto Legnaiolo
Here the sea is among the clearest and most transparent in the whole Marine Area, ideal for swimming, snorkeling and taking a few dives. Those who are not ready to swim yet can stay on board and sunbathe. Once back on board we head towards Tavolara.
  4. Tavolara
After about 20 minutes of navigation we reach Tavolara Bay, sailing along it until the only landing point. Stop of about one hour to visit the smallest kingdom in the world.
  5. Cliffs with the cave of Ulysses’ Ear
Leaving Tavolara we follow the southern side of the island with its majestic cliffs until reaching the cave of Ulysses’ Ear, a natural cavity formed by erosion.
  6. Cala Chiesa with lunch
One of the least known and least crowded bays of Molara is Cala Chiesa, and for this reason we choose it to swim and have lunch in complete tranquility. A bay with mixed seabeds of rocks and sand, perfect for snorkeling.
  7. Molara Pools
The natural pools of Molara cover the corner of the island facing northwest, and it is probably the most visited area of the whole zone thanks to the wide extension of white sand. The landscape both in and out of the water is breathtaking.
  8. Cala Girgolu and Costa Dorada
On the stretch of coast facing the island of Molara lies Cala Girgolu, wide and dotted with small coves worthy of a stop. There is plenty of choice: from Sassi Piatti on the southern side to Costa Dorada on the opposite side.
  9. Isola dei Cavalli
Returning towards Porto San Paolo we stop at Isola Piana, with shallow waters and a small beach reachable by swimming.
  10. Return
The return is a slow and relaxing navigation, ideal for enjoying the last moments at sea.
IMPORTANT: The itinerary and stops may be modified due to weather and sea conditions.

Amazing morning spent with Max & Simona ! They were extremely kind, and made us feel very welcome, took extra care of one of the passengers which was pregnant and made this relaxed morning one to remember. It was a perfect mix of local story telling and peaceful beautiful beaches/sea. I will definitely spent another morning discovering the coast with them next time I pass through Sardinia!

We did a tour in early April before the season started and ferries didn’t go to Tavolara island. Fortunately we met Max a day prior to our tour at Porto San Paolo and booked a tour on the spot for the next day. The boat was very clean and modern, with plenty of comfortable seating and lying opportunities to enjoy the ride. Our 4 hour tour included free fruits and biscuits, a lot of insights into Tavolara and its surrounding islands by Max and Simone, 4 stops with stunning views and rental of snorkeling equipment. Also Max gave us a discount which is much appreciated. We had a lot of fun and recommend this tour if you want to explore Tavolara from the seaside.

During the day, calm navigation alternates with longer stops, ideal for swimming, exploring the seabed, or simply relaxing in the sun.

All stops, located within the Marine Protected Area, may include some of the most renowned bays in the region: the Doctor’s Beach, with the white house overlooking the fjord that gives it its name; the Molara Pools, offering breathtaking views of Tavolara; Capo Coda Cavallo and its distinctive hook-shaped bay, often sheltered from the sirocco; and Sassi Piatti, next to the beautiful Spiaggia delle Vacche, where smooth granite rocks take on unexpected shapes.

Lunch becomes an integral part of the experience: a moment to pause and share, enjoyed slowly, surrounded by the sea and landscape. It is the ideal choice for those who want a more complete excursion, without time limits, offering a full day of discovery… yet never tiring.

Landing on Tavolara also offers time to enjoy moments ashore, whether taking a walk or enjoying a drink with a sea view.
